THANATOMORPHOSE EN ÉTAT DE DÉCOMPOSITION SUR LE WEB
Montréal, CANADA – THANATOFILMS, une filière de Les productions Outofnowhere inc., est fière d’annoncer la mise en ligne du site web officiel du premier long-métrage d’Éric Falardeau (Crépuscule, Coming Home, Purgatory) : THANATOMORPHOSE.
THANATOMORPHOSE : (n.f.) modifications visibles que la mort provoque sur les organismes. Synopsis: Un matin, la jeune et belle Laura se met inexplicablement et inexorablement à pourrir… Un récit kafkaïen mêlant sexualité, horreur et fluides corporels…
Éric Falardeau a déjà à son actif plusieurs courts métrages s’étant distingués dans plusieurs pays, notamment en France, en Espagne, en Allemagne, en Italie, en Suisse, en Grèce, en Angleterre, en Afrique du Sud, en Slovaquie, en Hongrie, aux États-Unis, au Brésil et au Canada. Éric Falardeau : «Thanatomorphose, abordera entre autres les thèmes de la transformation physique et de la mort. Jean Cocteau écrivait : « Chaque jour, j’observe la mort à l’oeuvre dans le miroir », citation qui soulève une certaine réflexion sur notre rapport à la mort mais surtout sur notre façon de voir la vie. À travers un récit kafkaïen, Thanatomorphose tente d’explorer ce rapport.»
En 2009, une bande- annonce promotionnelle du film est tournée et projetée dans plusieurs pays afin d’offrir un avant-goût du projet. Déjà, la critique est unanime : «While the running time on Thanatomorphose is about four minutes, this is a short that will have you on the edge of your seat! (...) as a trailer, it has me in line for tickets to the movie right now!.» (Brian Morton, États-Unis, Rogue Cinema); et «Thanatomorphose (un projet) dont vous n’avez pas fini d’entendre parler. Parce qu’en un plan, je suis tombé amoureux du film – ma mâchoire a failli se décrocher (…)» (Colin Vettier, France, Horreur.com).
La mise en ligne du site aura lieu le même jour que le lancement du Festival Fantasia, soit le jeudi 8 juillet 2010. L’affiche officielle du film et la bande annonce seront présentes respectivement dans le programme et sur le DVD du festival. La bande annonce sera également disponible sur le site web du film et sur divers sites de partage de vidéos.
En parallèle au site principal, un blogue de production sera disponible sur SINISTRE BLOGZINE. L’éditeur de Sinistre Blogzine Alexandre Duguay commente ce partenariat inhabituel : «Nous sommes fiers de nous associer au projet du talentueux cinéaste Éric Falardeau. En plus de présenter en exclusivité le dévelopemment de la production, c'est une occasion unique de faire rayonner le cinéma d'épouvante indépendant québécois. THANATOMORPHOSE IN ADVANCED STATE OF PUTREFACTION ON THE WEB
Montréal, CANADA – THANATOFILMS, a subsidiary of Les productions Outofnowhere inc., proudly announces the July 8th 2010 official website launch of director Éric Falardeau’s independently produced dark tale of sex and gore Thanatomorphose.
Thanatomorphose is a french word meaning the visible signs of an organism’s decomposition caused by death. The synopsis goes as follow: One day, the young and beautiful Laura wakes up and finds her flesh rotting…
Director Éric Falardeau describes the film: “My approach follows a famous quote from french poet Jean Cocteau: “You've never seen death? Look in the mirror every day and you will see it like bees working in a glass hive.” The film main emphasis is not on the why, but the how: how she will react to what is happening to her? It is a film about the body as an object, a commodity. How do we treat our body and disconnect ourselves of it in the process.”
Last year, a teaser was shot to help find investors and to involve the public in the film conception. It has been screened in festivals all around the world and will welcome visitors of the new website. The July 8th launch date coincides with the start of 2010 Fantasia Film Festival. The trailer will be featured on the festival‘s DVD and the poster will also be lurking in the pages of the festival’s program.
Thanatomorphose‘s trailer has been described as having “visual that's incredibly powerful and really had my imagination working overtime. (…) It has me in line for tickets to the movie right now!” (Brian Morton, RogueCinema.com)
Thanatomorphose’s crew includes first AD Marie-Josée Lamontagne, artistic director Véronique Poirier, stop motion animator Simon Beaupré (La cité de pierre), make-up and special effects artists Véronique Dumas (The Day After Tomorrow, A Night at the Museum, The Fountain), and Josée Courtemanche.
The website will also feature an official production blog hosted by famous horror culture French website SINISTRE BLOGZINE. Sinistre Blogzine editor Alexandre Duguay: ”We are proud to associate ourselves to the project of talented director Éric Falardeau by hosting the film official production blog. It is a great opportunity to contribute to the ever growing presence of Quebec independent genre film here and in the world.”
