Thanatomorphose - is a film by Montreal local Éric Falardeau. The trailer did not give you a lot to go by as to what the film is about. Mind you, the camera work was pristine. The camera pans through a kitchen that is slathered with blood as you hear the sounds of flies buzzing around. The camera then pans down to a hallway and travels down it as the sound of flies gets louder and louder. A man comes home, looks into one of the room and falls back out and becomes violently ill, and then something unseen attacks him. Like I said, the trailer doesn't give you much to go with, but it has certainly piqued my curiosity.

Coming Home by Éric Falardeau was the evenings darkest offering. It is the story of a man who is just released from prison after for the murder of a woman. He is picked up by the girls father who takes him out into the frozen wilderness and tortures his daughters killer until finally killing him in retribution. Very dark. Very gritty. I liked it. I am not sure what sort of film stock he used, but it looks old -- almost like a well watched snuff film on 8mm. To quote Jef on this one "The movie looks like it was made 30 years ago", and it totally adds to the feel of the movie. You feel a little dirty watching it. Great stuff.
