Le festival mascara & popcorn est un événement socioculturel voué à la promotion et à la diffusion de cinéastes indépendants et artistes multidisciplinaires.

Il s'agit d'une occasion unique de (re) voir PURGATORY depuis sa dernière projection à Montréal il y a presque 5 ans!

La projection aura lieu le 17 novembre à 18h au Cabaret Playhouse.

ThanatoFilms, en association avec Les productions Outofnowhere, sont fiers d'annoncer la sélection du court métrage CAM SHOT (Éric Falardeau, super 8mm, noir et blanc, 2008, 4 minutes) au Mascara & Popcorn Festival 2011 (4 au 11 juillet 2011).

Le festival mascara & popcorn est un événement socioculturel voué à la promotion et à la diffusion de cinéastes indépendants et artistes multidisciplinaires.

La projection aura lieu le MERCREDI 6 JUILLET au MAINLINE THEATRE (3997, boul Saint-Laurent (c. Duluth)). Les portes ouvriront à 19h e la projection des courts débutera à 20h. Le coût d'entrée est de 5$.

Il s'agit d'une occasion unique de voir CAM SHOT, car depuis son avant-première en 2008 il n'a jamais été présenté à Montréal. Entre-temps, le film a fait le tour du monde (États-Unis, Angleterre, Canada, Afrique du Sud, Italie). Il a été présenté dans de nombreux festivals dédiés aux arts et à l'érotisme.

Cam Shot est un essai visuel sur l'attrait fétichisant du cinéma (la pellicule, les contrats, l'iconographie, etc.).

Mascara & Popcorn is a week-long festival making its debut in July 2011, uniting independent filmmakers and artists alike in the hopes that it will impact communities in a positive and creative way. MASCARA & POPCORN is an indie film festival as well as a unique cultural happening that encourages experimental, thought-provoking, subversive art.

The screening will take place on WEDNESDAY JULY 6 at the MAINLINE THEATRE (3997, boul Saint-Laurent (c. Duluth)). Doors open at 7pm including cocktail. Screening starts at 8pm. Tickets are 5.00$.

This is a unique opportunity to see Cam Shot in Montréal. It will be the first screening of the film in Montréal since its premiere in 2008. Meanwhile, it has been screened all around the world (USA, UK, South Africa, Italy, Canada) as part of numerous erotic arts festivals.

Cam Shot is a fetishist and erotic essay about lighting’s contrasts and the pleasure of viewing.

COMING HOME à GRENOBLE au FESTIVAL DES MAUDITS FILMS

C'est avec grand plaisir que nous annonçons la projection de COMING HOME (super 8mm, 2008, 19 minutes) dans le cadre du Festival des Maudits Films de Grenoble (France) en janvier 2011 (18 au 22 janvier).

L'édition 2011 du festival consacre une part importante de sa programmation aux films de «genre» québécois. Des cinéastes, des artisans et des programmateurs d'ici seront sur place pour présenter les films, répondre aux questions des spectateurs et participer à une table ronde sur le cinéma de «genre» tel que réalisé dans notre belle province.

Outre une programmation de courts métrages organisés en partenariat avec le festival Fantasia et une programmation de courts métrages de «genre» au féminin (préparée par Maude Michaud), le festival présentera en ouverture la première européenne de THÉORIE DE LA RELIGION de Frédérick Maheux avec en première partie COMING HOME d'Éric Falardeau en présence des réalisateurs (sous réserve).

Dans le cadre du festival FANTASIA, la CINÉMATHÈQUE QUÉBÉCOISE (335 boul. Maisonneuve Est, Montréal) présentera un cycle intitulé CHAIRS ET VISCÈRES : CORPS ÉTRANGES qui explorera les rapports extrêmes au corps dans le cinéma horrifique. Voici quelques titres qui seront présentés du 7 au 18 juillet : Crash et Shivers (D. Cronenberg), Flesh for Frankenstein (P. Morrissey), Dans ma peau (M. de Van), un programme de courts métrages d'animation...

PURGATORY (super 8mm, 16 minutes, 2006) aura l'immense honneur d'être présenté le vendredi 9 juillet à 20h30 en première partie du mythique HELLRAISER de Clive Barker (copie 35mm en prime). Je serai sur place pour l'occasion.

Je serai également présent à titre d'expert au lancement du cycle le 7 juillet afin de présenter les deux films d'ouverture : Videodrome (D. Cronenberg) et Tetsuo (S. Tsukamoto). J'aborderai quelques thématiques incontournables liées au cinéma gore et développées précédemment dans mon mémoire de maîtrise déposé en 2008 à l'Université de Montréal. Le corps-machine, la métamorphose, la sexualité et la notion de limite seront au centre de la discussion.

The X-Fest is a South Africa's film festival. Several feature lenght-films and a block of shorties will be shown between march 5 and march 7.

Après PURGATORY (super 8mm, 2006, 16 minutes) en mars dernier, c'est au tour de CAM SHOT (super8mm, 4 minutes, 2008) faire un tour en Angleterre au soirée EXPLODING CINEMA.

PURGATORY en compétition au prestigieux LAUSANNE UNDERGROUND FILM FESTIVAL (LUFF)

Quelques années après sa sortie, PURGATORY (2006, super 8mm, 17 minutes) fait toujours son petit bonhomme de chemin dans les festivals!

Du 14 ou 18 octobre se tiendra en Suisse la nouvelle édition de l'un des plus prestigieux festivals de films, musique et art underground : le Lausanne Underground Film Festival (LUFF).

Seulement 19 courts-métrages ont été sélectionnés. Purgatory est du lot! Le film sera présenté aux côtés de courts-métrages de réalisateurs chevronnés tels Bill Plympton et Burke Roberts!
